Quit smoking by laser surgery in the ear?
I'd get a money-back guarantee. The laser is directed at acupuncture points, a technique that has not proven effective: http://whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Acup.html A study I found on laser acupuncture for smoking cessation in teenagers found it made no difference: http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0HKP/is_2000_Summer-Fall/ai_69540137 The American Cancer Society says, "There is no scientific evidence that shows this is an effective method of helping people stop smoking."
Smoking around a newborn?
Was just wondering what everyone's opinions are on smoking around a newborn? I do not smoke(quit when i found out I was pregnant) My fiances side of the family thinks they are treated differently because they smoke and my side of the family doesn't. My fiance told me that he grew up around smoke and he was just fine ( even though him and his sister had ear infections growing up and he had to have surgery on his ear as a child, he doesn't think this is linked to smoke exposure) My in-laws smoke in the house but go outside when we visit, which I very much appreciate. I definitely do not agree with smoking in the car though. We were going to take an hour or so trip to visit family, and were going to ride in the same car -my MIL, fiance', baby and I in MIL's car ( which they smoke in) I asked my fiance if his mother was going to want to smoke on the way there, because if so i'd just take my own car.. I was then told not to worry about even going!! I do not feel my baby should ride in an enclosed space being involuntarily exposed to cigarette smoke. The smell reeks.. and lingers on clothing ect, even if the smoker lights up outside or in a well ventilated area..let alone in a car.I do not think I am being selfish. I am looking out for my baby's health!! Its bad enough that he'll have to smell like smoke even if he's not directly exposed to it. What are your opinions on smoking in the house around baby? The car? Others nicotine fix vs health of a baby? How do I resolve an issue like this without being rude and hurting peoples feelings???
Half of us wouldn't even be here if smoking killed babies like the no smoking campaigns would have you believe.
Anxiety? breathing, chest pain, nerves twitching...?
Hi,
I started feeling this way right after my thyroid surgery a little over a year ago. I came home from a bike ride from my ex's house and sat at the computer and had a heart palpitation, I'm a pretty healthy person and I did quit smoking, but after that one palp my life has been hell!
Right when I got that palp my heart started racing, I got dizzy and I felt sick and i could not breath at all! My mom was worried but she said its most likely anxiety and im having a panic attack. well we checked my thyroid level and it was a little high but not enough to cause what I was feeling, so I went to the e.r and they found nothing. so I went home feeling stupid and still felt like I was dying. I can't stay still. I get weird dull pains on my head right above or behind my ear, my chest feels heavy and hurts, I feel like I can't breath, I'm always afraid im going to die in my sleep or I have a serious illness. Am I crazy or should I get checked out again? I take ativan and it helps some, but the breathing problem sticks with me. everyone thinks its allergies from my cat but i've had her for almost five-six years. please any help at all.
People often describe panic attacks as " feeling like I was dying". Logically, you know this is not true. You feel like you cannot breath, but you are actually breathing just fine. Perhaps your family doctor could help get you set up for some psychological intervention. Taking drugs like Ativan will start you on a path of addiction and dependency that you will find more harmful than the anxiety ever has been. A psychologist can give you the tools to control those miserable panic attacks and get back to a better life.
